snake anti-venom, how to harvest and make tons of cash
I know when alot of people think about snakes they get a bit creeped out, and sometimes scared nearly half to death, but for those brave few (like myself)who actually LIKE them, this may be of interest to you. I live in Dallas Texas, and there are a fair amount of rattlesnakes here and there is a BIG demand at the local hospitals for their venom. Why? you ask. Well...simple really...the hospitals use their venom to make anti-venom which counteracts the effects of the deadly bite of the snake. Now for those brave souls who want to make some quick easy cash you can catch a few of these snakes and begin harvesting their venom to sell to the local hospitals. They will pay a good hefty price for this as well. How does one go about harvesting snake venom from a poisonous snake you wonder? well...it's quite simple really, provided you are careful that is. But this is how it is done: Go out into a place where there are poisonous snakes (anti-venom can be made from nearly ANY poisonous snake, but be sure you know exactly what species it is and label the venom and do NOT mix venoms from different species or your sample will become useless)catch about 10-20 snakes of the same species and keep them in a place that is away from any residential homes, as people will tend to get a bit freaked if they kinow there are a bunch of poisonous snakes next door. Every couple days you do what is called "milking" the snake. This is a process that requires alot of skill in snake handeling, so if you don't know what you are doing when it comes to handeling poisonous animals, please do not do this. However...If you are confident that you know how to handle snakes of this nature, than this could be a very profitable endevor. Now...to "milk" a snake it is a fairly simple procedure. First of all, you need a glass container that is wrapped in rubber or some kind of latex on the top. Then take one of the snakes (being sure to hold it close to the head as to not get bitten), and gently force him to bite into the rubber top, applying a small amount of pressure to the base of the head as this is where their venom sacks are located. The venom will drip down it's fangs and into the container. You have just successfully milked your first venomous snake! Repeat this process with all the snakes (being sure not to mix the venom of different species of snakes because this will render your venom harvest useless) Label each venom collection with the snake used to produce it, then turn around and head to your local hospital. they will pay a handsome price for good venom samples from snakes. Now...if the WORST should happen and you get bitten, this is what you do... If you do not have a snake bite kit handy (which you really SHOULD if you are going to be handeling poisonous snakes) you make a small incision on each of the puncture wounds then proceed to suck out the venom that is in them (be careful not to swallow it, as it can make you violently ill). Once you get as much of the venom out as you can, tie a tournicate tight just above the wounded area to prevent as much bloodflow to the area as possible, then call your local emergency service immediately as you will need medical attention.

I hope this is in SOME way useful to anyone considering harvesting snake venom for a living. I myself researched it and considered it, but I now live in a city, so there is no place I can keep them.
